Netherlands Court System
In the Netherlands, civil cases are litigated in three instances. The District Court is the court of first instance, with a separate division for small claims and labour cases. Appeals are lodged with one of the four Courts of Appeal and cassation procedures are brought before the Netherlands Supreme Court. The Netherlands commercial court, established in January 2019, hears cases and publishes judgments in English, with both a first instance and appeals chamber.
